1. Discuss narrative story structure--What makes a great story great? Narrative story structure is the building blocks of good storytelling. Without it, you just have a tech project. With it, you have an interesting story that meets or exceeds the CCSS. We will provide participants with graphic organizers, slide shows and YouTube links about story structure. 2. Discuss the digital storytelling process--from ideas to storyboards to production. 3. Talk about the various types of digital stories and view exemplars created by students. 4. Discuss technique--For example: long shots, vs. close-ups, sound effects, fade, etc... 5. Discuss hardware and software--Provide participants with how-to videos that will guide them through the technology part. 6. Discuss going global--how to hold a film festival at your school, and how to create a YouTube channel to house student work.
