STEM and Play-Based Learning on a Budget
Limited Capacity filling up

In this session, teachers will learn games and STEM activities using items from the Dollar Tree or 99 cents store in addition to recycled items. This session will include many make-and-take projects and resources to help teachers guide students in play-based learning using the Common Core and NGSS standards. Some of the make-and-take projects include UV bead animals and building shelters, and projects using paper bags, paper, die cuts, and cereal boxes. Some of the game ideas include modifying and adapting card games and board games to incorporate skill practice (War, Go Fish, Jenga, Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, etc.). Learning games using Dollar Tree items such as dice, legos, aquarium rocks, clothespins, googly eyes, hot wheel cars, magnets, and toy fishing poles will also be demonstrated.
